COMPANY
Stormfågeln was originally a project to develop future solutions for environmentally sensitive and fuel-efficient boat traffic. The project has its commercial base in Stormfågeln AB – a company listed on Aktietorget in Stockholm, with around 1,000 shareholders.
The company’s prtotype, Stormfågeln, is based on a patented hull design with two surface-piercing propellers and three-point support. Two further patent applications have subsequently been filed; these will become public in December 2008 and March 2009. Stormfågeln has revolutionised surface-piercing propeller technology with its unique propulsion with reverse-enabled propeller blades and its unique hull design. These advances solve the Achilles heel of surface-piercing propeller technology.
Stormfågeln’s innovations within surface-piercing propeller technology may make it possible to commercialise the technology for new, broad and previously unreachable sectors of the boat industry. These solutions may give very interesting commercial advantages for the surface-piercing technology over conventional propeller technology. The principal advantages are a lower fuel consumption, lower emissions, and less wave formation.
